THE SCOTS' CEMETERY CALCUTTA Burial Records 1827-1941 CD

A collection of about 2022 burial records transcribed from a photo copy of the original burial register found in the Scots' Cemetery. The burial ground was opened in the early 1800s on behalf of St Andrew's Church. The names on the headstones reflect the part the Scottish immigrants who played a key role in all walks of life in Calcutta which at that time was the capital of British India. There are industrialists, missionaries, soldiers, tea and indigo planters, brokers and financiers to name just a few.
